Peterborough County OPP have arrested a 41-year-old Toronto man after uncovering a chop-shop containing stolen vehicles in Buckhorn.

On January 29th, police received information about a possible stolen vehicle at a business in the area. Officers learned that an attached unit was being leased, though limited details were available about the occupant.

The following day, the OPP Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit searched the leased unit. Inside, officers found parts from at least 13 newer model vehicles that had been cut into pieces and wrapped for shipment, along with various tools, a forklift, and license plates believed to have been taken from previously stolen vehicles.

During the investigation, authorities identified and arrested Wajdi Shamsa. He was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and was held for bail to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
