A 47-year-old Peterborough man is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic stop.

At approximately 11:55 p.m. on Monday, an officer on patrol in the Sherbrooke Street and Clonsilla Avenue area observed a vehicle speeding in snowy conditions. The vehicle was stopped near Sherbrooke Street and Goodfellow Road, where the officer noted signs of impairment in the driver.

The man was charged with operation while impaired by alcohol and drugs, operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration over 80, and having a license plate not plainly visible. He received an automatic 90-day license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court February 24th. Police remind the public to plan ahead and ensure safe rides home, emphasizing that “impaired is impaired” and everyone shares responsibility for road safety.
